Dnd 5E Races Homebrew4/15/2021
For a Caster, its incredible (equal to 3 or 4 AC), but for a Fighter, its meaningless. After getting a lot of feedback, Ive decided to go back through and write up a few different types of flight for various races.I will assign them all different values and hope to solve some of the balance issues.
Publisher Editor Hope you guys enjoy Edit: Ive been getting help from uaranim on this, btw. After I assigned values to all the core race features, he started helping with everything else. Id been trying to work out how the races were built, but it looks like youve approached it better than I did. I made my own race or well moved one from 3.5 to 5e. Can you clarify warforged real quick So it is: Wardorged 3.5 base class and then 3 for any subtype, correct I just want to make sure Im understanding it correctly. Pixie (5) 2 Dexterity 2 1 Charisma or Intelligence 1 Wings 1.5 -5 movement -1 Speak with Beasts.5 Pixie magic 1 Continue this thread level 2 DM 1 point 5 years ago Pixie is up now if you care to look Continue this thread level 1 5 points 5 years ago Looks great Seems to me though that wings for the kobold would be worth more than 1 pt. Being able to negate all melee attacks if flying is extremely powerful. Wings are very good in some situations, but in a cramped dungeon theyd be mediocre at best. They arent a 3 because they arent character defining and they arent a 2 because theres not enough opportunity to use them most of the time. Theyre either 1 or 1.5. Continue this thread level 1 4 points 5 years ago I really think the Half-Elf skill versatility should be worth more. Right now its worth.5, like the Elven Perception proficiency and the Half-Orc Intimidation proficiency. But Skill Versatility not only gives you twice as many profciencies, it lets you pick anything level 2 DM Original Poster 2 points 5 years ago I agree. Changed. level 1 3 points 5 years ago This is pretty amazing, although personally Id consider a resistance to be the same value as an ability point considering a vulnerability is. Vulnerabilities, as with all race flawsweaknesses, are -1 because flaws are so rare. You might play with your own values, but thats what seems right to me. Now back to work slave There are many races to finish like my precious Minotaurs level 2 DM Original Poster 1 point 5 years ago The next things I want to do are (Hama)Nymphs, but minotaurs are right afterwards Continue this thread level 1 3 points 5 years ago Positive I love homebrews and disecting the balancing mechanics: good on you. I think the core idea of what you are trying to accomplish is sound and I appreciate the work you have already put into it. Great job Delta I think you have mis-estimated the value of certain abilities and I would like to make a case for a different estimation here. My purpose is to help improve your awesome document and not sound like an asshole:) Making everything refer to an ability score for balance makes perfect sense. I like it. I dont think that a speed bonus of -5 feet is not worth a whole point. Although Kiting is possible, the existence of dash, OAs, ranged weapons and closed environments limits its usefulness to about half a point. Consider that a little extra speed is useful about as often as a trained skill (possibly less), which you have rated at.5. The HP bonus from Hill Dwarf probably belongs at 1.5 instead of 2. Although it does grant the HP bonus, it doesnt help Con saves including Concentration checks, both of which are worth about as much as a skill training, which is worth.5. Armor training is difficult to evaluate.
